Our clients are continuing to do great things in and around Detroit. Each month this year we will be highlighting a new client.

Melanca is a role model in every sense of the word, and we're lucky to have her here working in Detroit. While usually running between various responsibilities both personally and professionally, carving out the time to exercise has been a high priority these past few years. Here is a bit more about what she is doing in and around Detroit!

"I’m the President and CEO of Hudson-Webber Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to improving quality of life in Detroit. The foundation invests in organizations and initiatives that advance shared prosperity in the city.  I’ve been with the foundation since 2016 and feel incredibly privileged to have a job that allows me to support the many dynamic leaders in Detroit that are moving the city forward.  These past few years I’ve also been working to seed and launch the Michigan Justice Fund,  a collaborative set up to coordinate and leverage philanthropic investment focused on state-level reform to stem the flow of individuals into the criminal legal system, support the investment of public dollars to community-driven alternatives to incarceration, address racial inequity in the system, and ensure that those who are returning home after incarceration receive the support they need to flourish.

It's been a busy time, and difficult to juggle work and family and find time for anything else. I’d not worked out regularly since having my first child, and I was pretty run down, but despite a gym membership, never found the time to make use of it. A friend told me about PT in the D and I thought I would check it out. I’m so glad I did.  I’m someone that really needed the structure and scheduled time to work out.    I was so relieved that it was possible to pivot to on-line sessions once the pandemic hit, as the physical and mental health benefits that exercise provides felt more important than ever.   I may hate doing negative push-ups, but enjoy the camaraderie with Robert and the other clients, and always feel great after the sessions."
