Nellie brings an unmatched work ethic and desire to help others with her every day to help her patients. She continues to stay focused on her own health and wellness through the ups and downs that life can bring. Here is a bit more about her story....
"I am a Clinical Associate Professor in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at Wayne State University. With an expertise in diabetes, I teach a diabetes elective course and run a pharmacist-managed diabetes clinic at Health Centers Detroit Medical Group (HCDMG). This medical group provides care largely to underserved patients in the Detroit area. HCDMG also serves as an experiential rotation for pharmacy students and residents. The primary efforts of our pharmacy team are focused on helping patients manage their diabetes by prescribing safe and effective medications. We also spend a significant amount of time discussing nutrition and physical activity. My experiences at PT in the D help foster meaningful lifestyle conversations with my students and patients.
On a personal level, I have been training with PT in the D for quite some time. This community has become such an integral part of my life, that I often lose track of how many years it's been. As the years have gone on, there have been various injuries, pains, and obstacles. PT in the D has been vital in maintaining my physical health and emotional well-being. I'm so grateful for Robert and the community he has created. As an educator and a diabetes specialist, I firmly believe that everyone needs a community like this!"
