We are excited to officially put the word out about our newest addition to the team!
Evan comes to us with an extensive background in helping people move better, and we couldn't be more excited to have him in the studio and part of our community. If you see him around, don't hesitate to say hello!! Here is a little word from him....
"Hello everyone, my name is Evan Kueffner and I am thrilled to be your new trainer with PT in the D. Fitness has been a core aspect of my being through the majority of my life, beginning with middle school athletics. I had transferred into my middle school from being homeschooled, and I quickly found football, wrestling and track not only to be fertile ground for fun and physical development, but also spaces in which I could build a sense of confidence and belonging. My love for athleticism grew throughout high school, and I was blessed to have the chance to continue my career into college. I joined the varsity wrestling team at Washington and Lee University, competing to a winning freshman season before back injuries I had sustained in high school finally caught up with me. So, with the loss of my identity as an athlete, I was forced to adapt. It was at this point that I discovered breathwork and meditation, and found that these were essential tools for bringing a healthy balance to my body which I had been pushing so hard for years. I found new ways of training in the gym that still fed my desire to feel confident and powerful in my body, but worked with my limitations rather than aggravating them. Soon after graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, I was exposed to the wonderful world of Thai bodywork and myofascial release, quickly realizing that these modalities would become an integral part of my professional path. To this day, I sometimes think about how much further my college athletic career could have gone if I knew how to release neuromuscular tension and care for my body the way I have since learned to through Thai bodywork. While continuing to train in bodywork, I completed my Personal Training Certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in 2020, and began working closely with a select group of clients.
My philosophy on training, both my own body and with my clients, revolves around the concepts and experiences I have gained not only with ACE, but also through wrestling, meditation, bodywork and the healing arts. I believe that a healthy, functional body depends on a thorough foundation of fluid joint mobility, dynamic core stability, balance, cardiovascular strength, mind-body connection and efficient recovery practices. Above all else, I understand that as human beings, we were designed to move in ways that feel good. I’m very excited to be working with new clients out of our beautiful downtown Detroit studio, and I can’t wait to be a resource on your own path of wellbeing."
